Description
It is the intent of this agency to award a sole source contract under statutory authority of the COMSOL Multiphysics software & equipment for commercial items Section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation 13.501(a)1(ii), only one responsbile source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This agency intends to award to COMSO, Inc.., 10850 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 800, Los Angeles CA 90024 1. The AFRL requirement to be used at the Kirtland AFB NM is listed below: 1. 1 each - COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Single User License, Named User 2. 1 each - AC-DC Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Single User License, Named User 3. 1 each - RF Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Single User License, Named User 2. COMSOL, Inc., is the sole provider of the the above equipment. The COMSOL software is a unique multiphysics package required for the modeling and simulation of complex electromagnetic structures. COMSOL handles not only the electromagnetic fields, both at high and low frequency, but also the heating and mechanical stresses associated with these fields. Thus, using COMSOL for computational modeling of rf structures allows one to use a single, coupled computer package to handle all aspects of a problem from electromagnetic waves to thermal management and mechanical deformation, thus obviating the need for multiple computer codes and the requisite interface programs between these software platforms.
