Description
The US Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions and Lethality Contracting Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, on behalf of the U.S Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), is seeking sources for the Production of JA-2 Gun Propellant and/or Solventless Gun Propellants Manufacturing through a Continuous Process at a projected rate of 1.6 Million lbs/year. It is desired to replace the complex and labor intensive productions utilizing the traditional roll milling (even speed pre-roll processes) operation with a combination Shear Roll Milling (SRM)/Twin Screw Extruding (TSE) or SRM/Isostatic pressing operation to significantly reduce the cost of solventless propellants manufacturing. Respondents shall specify provide/identify the following information: Current contracts with the U.S. Government in the manufacturing of gun propellant and current production rates.Capability to manufacture solventless gun propellant via a SRM/TSE or SRM/Isostatic pressing operation and production rates.Capability to utilize or modify existing equipment and/or die and screw design for the manufacturing of solventless gun propellant via continuous process. Firms/companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and other technical data as well as identification of current customers. All data should be sent at no cost to the US Government no later than May 21, 2010 to the US Army ARDEC. ATTN: Pamela Penaherrera Bldg 10 Picatinny, NJ 07866-5000, email: pam.penaherrera@us.army.mil. In addition, please provide the firms name and address, point of contact with telephone number and email address, and size of business (small/large). TELEPHONE INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Government will accept written questions by email. This is a market survey to be used for informational planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP), nor is the Government obligated to issue an RFP. The US Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey.
