- This is a Sources Sought Notice for A/E Services at the Hampton VAMC. The Hampton Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Hampton, Virginia is seeking the services of an Architect-Engineer firm to develop all solicitation documents for a future procurement for Project #590-911 to provide design and construction period services to Renovate and Expand the Spinal Cord Injury Long Term Care Facility of the Hampton VAMC. This project will involve a total of approximately 25,000 square feet of renovation and new construction. The new construction will consist of approximately 12,000 square feet and the renovation will include approximately 13,000 square feet of existing space built in 1961. This project will require phasing to accommodate patients currently occupying the space to be renovated. Funds are not currently available for this project. The Veterans Affairs (VA) expects to receive funds in the near future. This sources sought is to determine availability of experienced A/E firms that have VOSB or SDVOSB status within a 60 minute response time to the Hampton, Virginia VAMC. VOSB or SDVOSB A/E firms that have experience in the design of hospital patient rooms and hospital building construction design are encouraged to respond to this sources sought notice by 4:00pm (local) on May 28, 2010. Please answer the questions below and send them to James Wood, VISN6 Contracting Specialist, at james.wood7@va.gov. Include answers to all of the following questions. Please be specific with examples. 1)Firm Name, address, DUNS Number, years of A/E related experience, and distance from Hampton, Virginia. 2)Has your firm directly worked in design projects related to hospital construction? If so, be specific as to type, nature, location, services provided, amount of design/construction cost of the project, and provide a POC reference (name and phone number) for that project. 3)Does your firm have direct experience in hospital patient room renovations and/or construction? If so, be specific as to nature of work, location, and experience. 4)Is your firm currently able to directly provide all necessary labor, material, equipment, and architectural and engineering services to prepare complete drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates from design stages through construction of the project. If so, site specific examples of full design through construction period services you provided. 5)Is your firm capable of completing all design and other related services in accordance with all applicable requirements of the Veterans Affairs (VA) construction standards, VA space design criteria, VA design criteria for mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, VA infection control requirements, and all national NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and local, state, and federal regulations. Please site experiences utilizing these criteria in prior projects. 6)Is your firm capable of providing all documents and designs electronically in the current versions of AutoCad/Architectural Desktop/Auto CAD MEP and Microsoft Word? 7)Is your firm listed in CCR, VETS100, VETBIZ, and ORCA as a VOSB or SDVOSB with an applicable NAICS code of 541310?
