- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District, would like to invite Design Architect/Engineer firms to a Hospital Industry Day to be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Frankfurt Airport on 02 June 2010 at 0900. Project Site: Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Kaiserslautern, Germany Project Scope: Initial design services relating to the approximate $1.2B regional Medical Center: Primary facilities include inpatient and wounded support, outpatient clinics and clinical ancillary buildings, administrative and education building and parking structure(s). Sustainable Design and Development (SDD) and Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct05) features will be provided. Supporting facilities include: roads, access control, electric service; water, sewer and gas; steam and chilled water distribution; paving; storm drainage; site improvements; and antiterrorism measures. Access for persons with disabilities will be included. Comprehensive building and furnishings related interior design services are required. Project Delivery Deadline: The goal is to have the hospital operational in 2018 The purpose of this Industry Day event is to raise awareness of the project and joint venture opportunities between US and German A/E firms, and gain industry insight and comments regarding the Architect -Engineering work needed for the replacement hospital. Sessions will include presentations outlining the anticipated project scope of work, timeline, and contracting procedures (initial design via US procedures/contract law, final design via Federal Republic of Germany contract procedures/law). There will be time following the meeting for practitioner networking. The Industry Day is limited to three representatives per company. All interested attendees must pre-register by email to Contract Specialist Tr Santos at dayon.t.santos@usace.army.mil and Contracting Officer Elaine Gray at elaine.s.gray@usace.army.mil with the following subject line RSVP Hospital Industry Day by 4:00 PM, May 26th, 2010. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Registration must include name, company, day time telephone number, and email address and reason for attendance. Registrants may also include suggested topics for discussion. This is a no-fee event and seating is limited. Check-in for the event begins at 8:30 AM. The Government will not be conducting one-on-one discussions during this event. This announcement is not a contract, request for proposal, a promise to contract, or a commitment of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume liability for costs incurred by an attendee or for travel expenses for marketing efforts.
