****PLEASE CONTACT JANET APPLETON ONLY FOR QUESTIONS AND QUOTES.CONTACTINFORMATION CAN BE FOUND IN THE BODY OF THIS NOTICE****THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR AERMET 100 STEELPLATES. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice servesas the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not beissued.The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions generated by this solicitation:QUESTION:1). Material description #3 states that multiple pieces are acceptable. If possible willone plate 7/8' thick x 36' wide and 96' long with a weight of 1500 lbs, (plus/minus a fewlbs) be acceptable?ANSWER:Yes one piece would be acceptable with the tolerance of +/- 10 pounds.QUESTION:2). The specification associated with this solicitation for Aeromet 100 is forbar/forging, but it looks like you are in need of sheet/plate spec which would be to widefor forging. We may be able to forge under 32' wide if your parts would fit.ANSWER:The processing variables, initial forging is the only process to follow to produce theproduct based on the guidelines of AMS 6532D, Steel, Bars and Forgings, 3.1Cr - 11.5Ni -13.5Co - 1.2Mo (0.21 - 0.25C), Vacuum Melted, Normalized and Overaged PrecipitationHardenable, which we have used as a guide to establish the parameters for thisprocurement. I believe if the vendor has the material on hand, it was produced followingthis method.The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 5/19/2010.
