Description
This synopsis is being posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website located at http://www.fbo.gov, the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) website located at https://www.neco.navy.mil/, and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Acquisition website located at. FBO is the primary point of entry to be used when access to synopses and solicitations from the World Wide Web is required. The NECO webpage will serve as an alternative if the FBO website is unavailable. THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTORS UNDER N0016409CGS22 The Government will procure up to 560 additional Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) cells for spares (280 B-Cells and 280 C-Cells) for the main storage batteries for the Los Angeles, Ohio, Virginia and Seawolf class submarines. Enersys Energy Products of Warrensburg MO is the sole source provider of these battery cells. This will be a firm-fixed price modification to existing contract N00164-09-C-GS22. The required delivery date is to be determined at this time. Inspection and acceptance will be performed at origin. This procurement is for a commercial item, and FAR Part 12 procedures will be utilized. The modification is expected to be issued on or about 30 JUN 2010. The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate this contract modification on a sole-source basis with Enersys Energy Products, based on FAR 6.302-1, only one source capable of meeting the Government's requirements, due to the proprietary nature of Enersys' VRLA battery design. The applicable NAICS classification is 335911, and the size standard is 500. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
