- The United States Army, ARDEC, is requesting information with respect tocapabilities of plastic molding and or plastic material deposition manufacturers. The US Army ARDEC is looking to perform the following manufacturing techniques for use with new munition systems. 1.Molding of plastic sleeves/ liner inside of metal cylindrical containers. a.Container will be cylindrical with varying exterior and interior diameters from 40mm to 155mm. b.Container will have one closed end and one open end. c.Container may have varying interior profiles. d.Maximum interior diameter may be larger than open end diameter. e.Container will be made from steel, with various yield and hardness requirements and be machined to final dimension before molding/ deposition processes. f.Post machining processes to ensure dimensional accuracy of plastic sleeve/ liner are not favorable but will be considered. g.Various plastic types may be considered. h.Thickness of plastic sleeve/ liner may vary. i.Finished assembly will be subjected to extreme temperatures (-25 to +63 C). j.Maximum depth of metal cylinder, no greater than 14 inches. 2.Other manufacturing techniques, concepts or processes will be evaluated in order to achieve the goal of a plastic sleeve/ liner manufactured directly inside of a metal cylindrical container. Interested parties should submit candidate manufacturing techniques to support the manufacturing of a plastic sleeve/ liner directly into a metal container. These submittals shall be in sufficient detail so that an evaluation can be performed to determine benefit to the program. The details are to include experience with candidate manufacturing, design(s), material(s) and data.Any response to this market survey shall be submitted ELECTRONICALLY ONLY, and within thirty (30) days from the date of this notice to Matthew Endrizzi (email address: matt.endrizzi@us.army.mil).
