Notice type: Sources Sought Posting date: July 2, 2010 Response date: July 9, 2010 Classification code: 30 Mechanical Power Transmission Equipment NAICS code: 334419 Other Electronic Equipment Manufacturing FSC: 6150 Solicitation #: W912EF-10-R-SS33 This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis (market survey). This is not a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a Request for Proposal (RFP). This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or award a contract. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District is seeking small business sources for a service requirement entitled: Lower Granite ESBS Transducers. This is scheduled to be issued as a Firm Fixed Price contract. The further purpose of this sources sought is to determine interest and capability of potential qualified 8(a) small businesses, Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZONE) small businesses and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) relative to the North American Industry Classification code (NAICS) 334419. The Small Business size standard for this NAICS code is 500 persons. To make an appropriate acquisition decision for this project, the Government may use responses to this sources sought synopsis. The type of solicitation issued and the manner of advertisement may depend on the responses to this sources sought synopsis. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS (1)Your intent to submit a proposal for this project when it is formally advertised. (2)Name of firm with address, phone and point of contact. (3)CAGE Code, DUNS number, and Employment/Tax Identification Number (EIN/TIN). (4)The category of business or within Small business, such as 8(a), HUBZONE, or SDVOSB. (5)Statement of Capability (SOC) stating your skills, experience, knowledge, and equipment required to perform the specified type of work. This should include documentation of past specialized experience and technical competence in fabricating similar products, up to three (3) past projects for which your firm was the prime contractor. The SOC should be no more than three (3) pages in length. Firms responding to this sources sought synopsis, who fail to provide ALL of the required information requested, will not be used to assist the Government in the acquisition decision, which is the intent of this sources sought synopsis. Requirement Description 1.0Intent The following specifications pertain to the purchase of magnesium rod anodes for use at Lower Granite Lock and Dam. The plan is to incorporate 30 sections of 20 rod anodes into each Extended Submersible Barrier Screen (ESBS) throughout the entire structure to minimize corrosion of dissimilar metals. There are 18 productions ESBSs at Lower Granite Dam. 2.0Scope The successful bidder shall be required to fabricate and deliver above amount of magnesium rod anodes to Lower Granite Dam by the date shown in Section Shipment and Delivery. They shall also provide documentation, and other items as stated in the specifications Section 4.0. 3.0Magnesium rod anodes The Magnesium rod anodes shall be made of standard potential magnesium (H-1 alloy), smooth finish Or Approved Equal (See Section 4.0). It shall be designed to be 2 +/- 1/16 in diameter and 20 feet in length. It shall be supplied with the following options: 1.Two inches of exposed core on both ends for connecting purposes. 4.0Submittals Before acceptance of Or Approved Equal bids, submittals must be approved by Mr. Rob Lustig (509-843-1493 x258), Lower Granite Dam, 885 Almota Ferry Road, Pomeroy, Wa 99347. Submittals include copy of manufactures catalog cuts, O&M manual, specification sheets, and warranty. 5.0Warranty Each system shall be covered by a minimum one-year warranty on all parts, labor, and workmanship from factory defects. 6.0Shipment and Delivery All items shall be delivered FOB to Lower Granite within 8 weeks of contract award. The contractor shall be responsible for packing and shipping the components in a manner that will ensure undamaged and complete arrival to Lower Granite Dam. No shipments are allowed other then normal business hours of Monday - Thursday 6:30 AM 4:30 PM, excluding holidays.
