Description
THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 PROJECT. THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE TO CONTRACTORS UNDER THE FEDERAL SUPPLY SCHEDULE 899-8, REMEDIATION AND RECLAMATION, UNDER PROCEDURES IN FAR 8.4. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Work includes clean up of hazardous waste form Salt Chuck Mine site located on Prince of Wales Island Alaska. Work includes construction of temporary haul road (3800 ft), excavation of hazardous tailing and soils (4,00o cubiic yards) and transporting hazardous materials to a disposal facility. SITE LOCATION & STATISTICS The site and the northern extremity of Bay, on Prince of Wales Island, approximately 4.5 miles south-southwest of Thorne bay Alaska. The mine and mill are located within section 16 & 17, Township 72 South, Range 84 East, Copper River Meridian, Alaska. Weather and tidal fluctuations provide logistical challenges within this relatively remote area. Annual precipitation at Salt Chuck Mine ranges from approximately 110-150 inches, with the rainy season in fall and early winter. Average annual temperature is 46 degrees farenheit. July and August are the warmest months, with an average high temperatures in the mid-60's, and January is typically the coldest month, with average low temperatures in the low-30's. Tidal fluctuations occur twice per day of up to 20 feet adjacent to the mill. The technical POC for ths action is Michael Wilcox (907) 586-9379
