Description
The work in this section consists of the replacement in kind of the existing metal roofs (standing seam) on two historic building located in the Wilderness and Chancellorsville Battlefield, units of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. All work preformed on this contract will be designed to provide a water tight roof system with proper grade and closures to transport water the roof. The contract will also include the removal of the exiting metal roofs and disposal of same. Also included will be the replacement of any rotting or damage underlayment (one by six plus or minus wooden purlines. These building are units of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. The barn type building were constructed be the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930's and are on the National Register of Historic Places established for the First Order of Significance. At the present time these building are used by the National Park Service as storage facilities for equipment and material used daily by the National Park service. All prospective bidders on this project must be able to show proof of work with references on similar historic roofing projects using standing seam roofing material. The work will include the cutting, forming and shaping of continues length pans and flashing to provide a watertight unit. Samples of material to be used should be submitted to the Contracting Officers Technical Representive (COTR) at or before the pre-construction meeting. These samples will be reviewed for size, color and texture. At this time any "approve equals" shall also be submitted for review by the (COTR). The successful bidder will be required to provide a written five (5) year guarantee to cover any defects in material or workmanship when might result in leaking of water or melting snow due to holes, poor seam construction or loose material.
