- NASA/KSC has a requirement for 1) one (1) large floor standing, abrasive cut-offsaw; 2) one (1) sliding vise, left hand; 3)one (1) sliding vise, right hand. Destinationpricing is the prefer method of shipment. If unable to ship destination, please quoteshipping cost. Please see the specifications below: Large, floor-standing, abrasive cut-off saw for sectioning metal objects. Must be ableto use both 14-inch and 12-inch diameter blades. Must allow manual actuation of theblade, as the operator should be able to feel the cut and directly control the feed rateby hand. The motor power of the unit must be at least 10 Hp and operate with a cuttingwheel speed of at least 2000 rotations per minute (rpm). The saw must be able toaccommodate a part at least 5 inches tall. The saw must contain a protective hood toenclose the work-piece and protect the operator, and must have side ports on both sidesin order to accommodate long parts. The product must include a recirculating water-basedcutting-fluid/coolant system with at least a 20 gallon capacity. The product must have aT-slotted table with dimensions greater than 17.5 inches by 12.5 inches. The productmust have an interior light and an interior hose for washing the work-piece and theworking area. The saw must also include sliding quick-release vises, one each left andright.The maximum footprint of the instrument is 3 feet wide by 4 feet deep.Theinstrument must have a duct or flange for connection to an existing fume extractor.This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. Theinformation required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writingsuzanne.blubaugh@nasa.gov no later than July 12, 2010. Prospective quoters shall notifythis office of their intent to submit a quotation. It is the quoter's responsibility tomonitor this site for the release of amendments (if any).
