- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with Olympus America, Inc., SEG Biological Microscopes, 3500 Corporate Parkway, Center Valley, PA 18034 for a BX51WI Seven Microscope System Package (w/QICLICK) and FV100 Confocal with GSA schedule holders. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with the Simplified Acquisition Procedures FAR Part 13.106-1(b). The Government is in the process of purchasing an Olympus BX5WI from GSA contract held by Olympus America, Inc. Following are features of the Olympus BX5WI that are not available on the GSA contract: • BX5WI Microscope Stand with Front Fine/Coarse Focus • Focusing Arm for Nosepiece on BX51WI and BX62WIF • Trinocular Obser Tube • 12V/100W Halogen Lamphouse • Hot Mirror • 12V/100W Power Supply • Hand Switch • Extension Cable for Halogen Lamphouse • Swing-out Nosepiece • Long Working Distance Single Condenser • Analyzer Slider • Bandpass Filter • Round Polarizer for Visible • U Plan Fluorite 4X Objective • Fluorescence Illumin BX2 • Reflected Light Shutter for Shock-Free Operation • 100W Mercury L H W/Chromatic Mirror • Power Supply for 100W HG Lamphouse • Neutral Density Filter 25MM in Slider • Mount Camera Adapter Therefore based on the aforementioned facts, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement FAR 6.302-1. Interested parties may identify their interest and submit statement of capabilities in response to this synopsis on or before 5:00 PM EST July 15, 2010. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient details to allow the government to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purposed of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Response to this synopsis number 1638555 may be submitted electronically to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist.
