Description
This contract is to replace the two existing low flow bypass gates (valves) located in the Gate Chamber, at elevation 5523.25, in the Cherry Creek Dam Intake Structure. The existing gates are nominal 18-inch diameter flange body, bonnet style knife gate valves; model 134, manufactured by Fabri-valve (of Amory, MS). Each gate is operated by an electric actuator, model SA 10.1, manufactured by Auma Actuators, Inc. (Note that in this scope of work the terms gate and valve are used interchangeably as they apply to the low flow bypass gates.) Actuators manually control the position of the gate. Gate position can be controlled at the actuator or remotely from the control panel located at the Operating Deck level, 5645.0. Access to the Gate Chamber is by stairs located inside the Intake Structure only. No elevator exists for movement of people between the Operating Deck and the Gate Chamber. The Contractor shall provide all equipment, material, parts, labor, etc to accomplish the technical scope of work stated below. No equipment, materials or labor will be provided by the Government unless specifically stated below. Due to the need to have at least one (1) low flow gate operable at all times, all work on the first gate shall be complete before work begins on the second gate. The Technical Scope of Work below pertains to requirements for the removal and replacement of one gate and actuator. After completion of work related to the first gate and acceptance by the Contracting Officers Representative, work on the second gate shall be performed following the same Technical Scope of Work. Note that this scope of work provides a description of the required work order, but may not address every step required for successful completion of the work. In some cases removal and replacement of ancillary items may be required but not stated in the scope of work. This work shall be considered part of the scope of work and shall be done at no additional cost to the Government. The Base Bid shall include all materials and labor associated with the removal and replacement of one gate and actuator. The Bid Option shall include all material and labor associated with the removal and replacement of the second gate and actuator. A Site visit will be held on 13 August 2010 at 10:00 at the Cherry Creek Dam Tower. The site visit is not mandatory but is highly recommended.
