- RECOVERY This notice is provided for information purposes only. NASA LaRCintends to issue a fixed-price contract to National Institute of Aerospace for an effortentitled DEVELOPMENT OF COMPLEXITY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TOOLS FOR NEXTGEN AIRSPACERESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS. This competitive action will be funded by the AmericanReinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). This award results from a competitive selectionunder the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Headquarters released NASAResearch Announcement (NRA) for foundational research in support of the AeronauticsResearch Mission Directorate (ARMD), entitled 'Research Opportunities in Aeronautics(ROA) 2009 under NNH09ZEA001N, Appendix c.4, NextGen Airspace Project, Subtopic1:NextGen-Airspace Project Technologies: Predictive Modeling and Analysis in Support ofDeeper Assessment of System Safety and Risks for NextGen Concepts. The NextGen-AirspaceProject works in close collaboration with the NextGen-Airportal Project to conductAirspace and Airportal foundational research and discipline-based technology. TheNextGen-Airspace Project develops and explores fundamental concepts and integratedsolutions that address the optimal allocation of ground and air automation technologiesnecessary for next generation air transportation system (NextGen). The Project will focusNASAs technical expertise and world-class facilities to address the questions of where,when, how and to what extent automation can be applied to moving aircraft safely andefficiently through the National Airspace System (NAS). The Projects research willdevelop and test concepts for advanced traffic flow management to provide trajectoryplanning and execution across the spectrum of time horizons from strategic planning toseparation assurance. The referenced solicitation is a broad agency announcement as specified in FAR 35.016 andNFS 1835.016.
