- This is a sources sought synopsis only and not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources relative to NACIS 333415. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered responses to any potential solicitation announcement. Service Area Office (SAO) East-8, Service Center 7, North Florida/South Georgia (NF/SG), Gainesville, FL is seeking responsible sources with engineering expertise encompassing but not limited to the following areas: 1.Improving and/or maintaining Heating, Venting, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems that serve VA medical facilities; 2.Reducing operation costs including the reduction of conventional energy consumption; 3.Ensuring HVAC system design includes features that enhance VA emergency preparedness in response to infectious disease outbreaks, whether naturally occurring (e.g., flu pandemic ) or intentional (terrorist activity); 4.Determining the appropriate scope, application, and maintenance of ultraviolet germicidal (UVGI) and other modes of air disinfection serving VA medical facilities; 5.Methods to improve personnel awareness and compliance with engineering infection control practices. 6.Identifying important global/national/regional scientific and occupational practice trends and evolving engineering practices that may influence infection control and/or ventilation in VA facilities. The engineering expertise required includes knowledge of new systems designs plus the ability to mitigate older systems through retro - commissioning procedures and the underlying principles of infection control. On a broad scale, this expertise must include knowledge to help VA gain a better understanding of the approaches to maximize surge capacity during large-scale disease outbreaks. Responses must be received in writing no later than 3:00 p.m. EDT August 13, 2010. This notice is to assist the VA in determining sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. If a solicitation is issued it will be announced at a later date, and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. Responses to this sources sought is not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
