Description
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will present an overviewof common themes captured from industry responses provided to NASAs Commercial CrewInitiative Request for Information (RFI) published on May 21, 2010. The forum willinclude a general discussion of how these common themes are being addressed by NASA;presentation of the insight/oversight philosophy; and a question and answer session. Theevent will be conducted on August 19, 2010, at NASA Headquarters, James E. WebbAuditorium, 300 E Street SW, Washington DC from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Individuals whoplan to attend must pre-register online and there is no fee to attend. NASA willbroadcast the forum live on NASA TV and online via webcast. TV and Web viewers will havethe opportunity to submit online questions and comments during the forum.AGENDA Introduction Welcoming Remarks Description of Commercial Crew initiative Panel SessionoDescription of common themes from RFI oDescription of NASA response to themes oDescription of the current approach to standards acceptanceoDescription of insight/oversight philosophy oDescription of facility usage philosophy and availability Question and Answer Session Adjournment BACKGROUND The Commercial Crew Initiative RFI, accompanied by the Commercial Human Rating Plan(CHRP), was published on May 21, 2010.Companies in the aerospace industry submittedresponses to that RFI and several common themes emerged. To provide industry with generalfeedback and status, NASA will host a Commercial Crew Planning Status Forum. Due tolimited capacity, a maximum of 200 pre-registered attendees can attend the event at NASAHeadquarters. NASA TV/WEBCASTAn unlimited number of participants can view the live webcast or broadcast on NASA TVwith an ability to ask real-time questions via the web. For webcast and TV details, visitthe following page on the day of the event: http://www.nasa.gov/exploration QUESTION SUBMISSION WEBSITEDuring the event online viewers can submit questions to panel members using the followingwebsite link. http://www.nasa.gov/exploration/new_space_enterprise/commercial/cc_forum.html Attendees at NASA HQ can submit questions directly to panel members during the Questionand Answer portion of the forum. PRE-REGISTRATION Individuals who plan to attend the Commercial Crew Planning Status Forum at NASA HQ mustpre-register online. Registration will take place on a first come first serve basis. Dueto capacity limitations, a maximum of 200 registrations will be accepted. Individuals maypre-register at the following website: http://www.explorationregistration.com The deadline for registration is Wednesday, August 18 at 12 p.m. EDT. Availability islimited to 200 people. There is no registration requirement for online viewers. CHECK IN AT THE DOOR Any individuals who have registered to attend the Commercial Crew Planning Status Forumshould enter the west lobby doors of the NASA Headquarters building at 300 E Street, SW,Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, all participants will be required to check in at theregistration table located in the lobby and show photo identification. PRESS News media interested in attending are required to pre-register and should contact MikeBraukus at Michael.J.Braukus@nasa.gov to register. SECURITY Event attendees will not be required to check in at the security desk to obtain avisitor's badge. However, participants may be subject to personal inspection (e.g.,passing through a metal detector), prior to entering the auditorium per the discretion ofthe security office. Once you enter the NASA Building West Lobby, please head straightto the auditorium to check in.DIRECTIONS Directions to NASA Headquarters are available online at the following URL: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/hq/about/map.html Driving Parking lots are located near the NASA Headquarters building. Check the local yellowpages or internet for exact locations. Metro Metro stops nearest NASA Headquarters are L'Enfant Plaza (orange, blue, yellow, and greenlines) and Federal Center SW (orange and blue lines). From L'Enfant Plaza station, take the Department of Transportation exit and turn left atthe top of the escalators. Head east (on School St. or E St. SW) and south (on 4th or 6thSt. SW) to arrive at the west entrance of the NASA building near the corner of E St. SWand 4th St. SW. From the exit of the Federal Center SW metro station, head south on 3rd St. SW and thenwest on E St. SW to arrive at the west entrance of the NASA building near the corner of ESt. SW and 4th St. SW.
