- Description
- SSA-RFI-11-1002: Sources Sought for Disaster Recovery Management Tool The Social Security Administration (SSA) is attempting to identify responsible vendors that are capable of providing a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Management tool capable of identifying critical application data and managing the backup of these data. The product will be installed on multiple IBM z-series mainframes at the National Computer Center (NCC) in Baltimore, MD and at the Second Support Center (SSC) in Durham, NC. The product may be installed at another Government location during the period of performance of the contract. The mainframe operating system will be Z/OS JES3 1.10 or higher. The minimum requirements are: •· Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) interface; •· Ability to define critical application batch and online jobs and store in the software's database; •· A Started Task (STC) to track in real time the critical application jobs defined, and store critical datasets in the software's database; •· An interface to the Control-M software for the loading of the jobs in entire Control-M table(s) for critical applications; •· The ability to create Aggregate Backup and Recovery Software (ABARS) selection datasets to hold the lists of critical datasets to be backed up; •· The ability to go against Systems Management Facility (SMF) data to determine critical application data; •· An interactive tracking/management feature for the management of the ABARS backups of critical data; •· An interface to Interactive Storage Management Facility (ISMF) for the creation and management of ABAR's aggregates; •· An incremental backup feature/database to allow the user to back up only changed data; •· Ability to use the ISPF interface to backup or recover a single dataset or entire aggregate; •· Ability to split large aggregates into multiple aggregates or merge smaller aggregates into one large one based on total size or dataset number; •· Reporting capabilities for backups, restores, overlaps, aggregate size and tape usage; •· Ability to back up and restore data residing on ML1, ML2 and usertape as well as direct access storage devices (DASD); •· Ability to build Job Control Language (JCL) for backup and restore; and •· Ability to track Full Volume backups. Disaster Recovery (DR) testing will be allowed four times each year for up to 14 days each occurrence. The contractor will allow up to 30-60 days concurrent test period at the NCC and at another SSA or SSA-controlled site (i.e., the SSC, National Support Center). Contractors having the capability to meet the above requirements are invited to submit complete details. The responses must clearly state how their product provides the ability to meet the above requirements. Interested parties must e-mail responses to this notice to Joanna Lobl at Joanna.Lobl@ssa.gov within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication. PHONE CALLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Contractors responding should indicate whether their products are available on the GSA schedule. Pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted.
