Description
Combined Synopsis/ Solicitation number 10WRQQ0275 is amended to include the following questions and answers to clarify and provide additional details regarding the specifications as follows: 1. Question: What is the washing technique, the mixing technique and the detection technique required? Answer: The sample probe must be automatically washed after every liquid contact to prevent cross-contamination. The probe must be washed internally and externally between samples to prevent carryover. Samples must be added together with reagents using an automated system (such as a robotic arm) and the mixture must then be kept at different temperatures depending upon the method and element being analyzed. The required detection technique is direct photometry, with multi-wavelength optics (ranging from 420nm-880nm), having a linear range of 0.005-3.500 Abs, and a resolution of 0.005 Abs. There must also be varied detection modes (such as endpoint and kinetic). 2. Question: What type of samples is to be analyzed? Answer: The samples to be analyzed will be extracts or digests from soils and plant tissue. All samples will be in a liquid form by the time they are analyzed by the machine. Common analyses will be soil extracts in potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, hydrochloric acid, and sodium bicarbonate extracts of soils and nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrogen peroxide digests of soil and plant material. 3. Question: What actual nutrients will be the priority? Answer: Nitrogen (nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, total nitrogen, total Kjeldahl nitrogen) and phosphorus (ortho-phosphate, phosphate, total phosphorus, and total Kjeldahl phosphorus) are the first priority, with total sugars, calcium, magnesium, and manganese being a second priority. Also, having the ability to determine acidity and alkalinity as well as other elements is preferred as our needs change with different studies. We need to be able to analyze these different molecules without purchasing lots of expensive manifolds. 4. Question: What range & detection limits are required? Answer: The detection ranges and limits for concentrations are different for each method and molecule. We need a detector that can read multiple absorbances and be linear within a range of 0.005-3.500 Absorbance units. We also need a very high level of resolution, at 0.0005 Absorbance units. Finally, we need to use very low sample volumes (in the uL range) and low reagent volumes to save on unnecessary costs and wastes. 5. Question: What throughput is required? How many samples/tests per day/week will be done? Answer: We will often need to run more than 100 samples a day, and hundreds in a week, making throughput speed and sample capacity (allowing us to set up >120 samples per run) a priority. The system must be fully automated and must allow for continuous loading of samples. Additionally, delete the term: "or equal" from CLIN 0001.
