- Description
- The Marine Corps Systems Command is seeking information regarding the availability of fire suppression backpacks, equipment training, and spare parts support as commercial or non-developmental items. The backpacks should be able to combat primary and secondary fires, materials and/or other combustible materials in vehicles, caused by enemy actions or mishaps. Secondary fires are defined as the reflash of Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants (POL) or other combustible materials incorporated in the operation of the vehicle or carried as cargo. The contractor shall provide information on an independent, man-portable backpack systems, or similar system with the following essential characteristics:.Operating pressure 90 to 110 PSI.Solid color with non-reflective properties (preferably brown, gray, or green)..Air cylinder sizes: 5.5 - 7.0 inch diameter, 19 - 22 inch length.Liquid capacity: A minimum of 5 gallons.Projection distance: up to 40 feet.Cylinder pressure: 2,216 - 4,500 PSI.Air Capacity: at least 45 minute.Unit dimensions: A maximum of 22 inch H x 17 inch W x 13 inch D.Construction: A reservoir with backpack harness and lumbar support.System weight: Up to 75 lbs fully charged with water and air cylinder.Configured for operation from a supportable standard energy source. Vendors who have products with the above characteristics/capabilities are invited to submit the following information: 1) product summary, 2) complete technical characteristics, 3) rough-order of magnitude pricing and 4) Training and spare part support capability. Submissions should not exceed 15 pages. Vendors are requested to submit their Capability Statement to the address below no later than 03 Sept 2010. Vendors should also include their business size (i.e., large business, small business, 8(a), veteran owned small disadvantaged business) and current GSA contract information, if applicable, in their submission. This source sought / Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If included, please clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME.
