- Description
- This is a notice to acquire a Sea-Bird 911Plus CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth) system including deck box and water sampler and external sensors. The CTD system is used to collect vital environmental data that the National Marine Fisheries Service is mandated to collect on each research survey conducted. The 911plus, consisting of the 9plus underwater CTD and 11plus V2 Deck Unit, is a premium real-time CTD accurate to the highest international standards. It features high resolution sampling (24 Hz), pump-controlled T-C ducted flow, up to 10500 meter (15,000 psia) depth capability, maximum auxiliary sensor flexibility, and modem channel for Water Sampler control. The 911plus has eight 12-bit A/D channels, and supports redundant C&T sensors or custom auxiliary digital inputs. In the mid 1990's, NOAA standardized the type of CTD used on its vessels and selected the Sea-Bird Electronics CTDs to perform its environmental data gathering. Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc. is the largest manufacturer of marine instruments for measurement of salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, and related oceanographic variables. Sea-Bird Electronics has no distributers and sells all of its products direct. The Mississippi Laboratories currently owns two Sea-Bird 911 plus units and three SBE 25 units. This unit will be fully interchangeable with all other units currently owned by the Mississippi Laboratories to maintain the standardization established by NOAA. Salient Characteristic: 9plus underwater CTD 11plus V2 Deck Unit The government knows of only one source Sea-Bird Electronics that can provide the CTD unit for NOAA Vessels. Interested parties shall provide information to include, at a minimum, name, telephone number and address of concerns for which you have furnished this type of services previously, and detailed narrative that describes the supply and your ability to provide this service. Interested parties must respond within (10) ten days after publication of this notice. The government knows of only one source. The government invites firms that believe they have the capability to meet the requirement to response, providing specific information that will enable the government to determine whether or not to compete the requirement. Faxed information can be sent to 816-274-6983 or physically sent Department of Commerce, Attn: Sharon Walker, 601 E. 12th St, Room 1756, Kansas City, MO 64106. Email responses can be sent to Sharon.walker@noaa.gov. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NOAA may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside.
