- This is not a solicitation and does not constitute a commitment or an obligation by the government. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Pittsburgh, PA, intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Metro Medical for the Proergo surgical scope by Carl Zeiss Meditec for the following: OPMI Proergo S7 Ceiling Mount Xenon- Proergo for dentistry S7 Ceiling mount for heights lower than 3.09M W/Xenon. Includes 1 each: OPMI Proergo, OPMI Adapter for OPMI Sensera, dustcover blue, S-Light Guide 2.0M (78"), S7 Ceiling mount with Rigid Column Ceiling flange for S7 with rigid column, UV safety glasses I-VO 9160 Blue/orange, Superlux 180W for S7 Stands, 180 degree tiltable tube,US Power Supply Cable, Vision guard lens protectors nonsterile. Also includes 2 each: 12.5X eyepiece, 2 Angled optics w/o side port, 3 Adapter set S7 CSU/Rigid on S5 plate, 4 Integrated Medilive primo for dental OPMI Proergo - includes 1 each: integrated swiveling camera head NTSC, integrated video system/NTSC, electrical comp S7 OPMI sensera/Proergo, 5M SVHS connecting coax cable 2X 4 pin, and 5 Retaining ring. The Proergo surgical scope by Carl Zeiss Meditec has specific characteristics that limit the availability to a sole source such as; a surgical scope that has a continuous magnification field of view from 3X power to 25X power. It is also is the only scope which has multiple ergonomic features such as; a full 20 inch visual depth of field, magnetic brakes for reduced weight and torque requirements, finger tip zoom and focus without repositioning, presets for up to six physicians, adjustable xeonon light source direct into visual field. Extensive research was conducted by VAPHS clinical staff. The Proergo Surgical Scope was the only one that met their needs. This acquisition is conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 - Only one responsible source. Anticipated date of award is October 1, 2010. Vendors who wish to identify their interest and capability to provide the Proergo Surgical Scope, may notify the Contracting Officer, in writing, no later than 4:30 P.M. on September 6, 2010. Responses may be sent to lynn.portman@va.gov or mailed to Lynn Portman, Contracting Specialist, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with sole source negotiations. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the VAPHS Contracting Officer.
