Background Information for the Event: The changing dynamic for Veterans in the 21st century mandates that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) accomplish its myriad of missions more effectively and efficiently. Delivering the right services at the right time to this growing and ever changing population of Veterans will require: cutting-edge information technology, innovative and improved acquisition processes, a far-reaching transformation of the VA workforce, and end-to-end innovations in management. VA recognizes that our supplier community is a critical component to our success in meeting the challenges of supporting Veterans in the 21st century. The VA has embarked on a transformation of the end-to-end acquisition process that will capitalize on this industry expertise as an effort to improve our acquisition process as a whole. VA's first step to building an enhanced relationship and improving communication with suppliers began on August 13, 2009 at the VA Supplier Relationship Transformation Forum in Arlington, VA. VA hosted 140 representatives from over 90 companies representing every material and service provided to the VA. In August of 2010 VA hosted the same forum in New Jersey & California. The VA listened and heard a number of critical issues and concerns relating to VA acquisition processes. VA would like to hear from suppliers who were not able to attend the August 2009 & August 2010 Forums due to their locations. VA will hold a regional Supplier Relationship Transformation Forum in Chicago, IL on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 to gain feedback about the acquisition lifecycle, VA's use of contract types and concerns and impacts of unclear solicitation requirements. II. Objectives of the Event: "Continue the process of gathering feedback on the VA acquisition lifecycle that started at the August 2009 SRT Forum in Washington, DC & continued on at the August 2010 SRT Forum in New Jersey & California "Gain facilitated feedback on VA acquisition lifecycle from suppliers and commodity groups who were not able to attend the August 2009 & August 2010 SRT Forums ?
