Description
NASA/KSC awarded a NASA Launch Services II (NLS II) contract to Orbital SciencesCorporation. The NLS II contracts are multiple award, IDIQ contracts with an orderingperiod through June 2020. These contracts will provide a broad range of launch servicesfor NASA planetary, earth-observing, exploration and scientific satellites. The NLS IIcontract procures domestic launch services with a minimum capability of delivering NASAsatellites weighing 250 kilograms or more at an altitude of 200-kilometer circular orbitand a launch inclination of 28.5 degrees. The NLS II contract is an extension of theexisting NLS contract and was awarded using the NLS on-ramp provision. The maximumordering amount which can be ordered under all NLS/NLS II contracts is $15,000,000,000.The NLS II contract also contains an on-ramp provision that will provide the opportunityannually for new launch service providers to compete for future requirements, andexisting launch service providers to introduce launch vehicles not initially available atthe time of award of their NLS contracts. Once an IDIQ contract is awarded, the contractholder can compete for missions through the NLS II contract Launch Service Task Order(LSTO) procedures.
