- Description
- The services provided by Hospital, hereinafter called the Contractor under this contract include (1) emergency hospital services upon a VA Enrollees presentation at the Contractor ™s Hospital for the same, with a referral from a VA staff or contracted physician; and (2) other acute inpatient hospital services upon referral for admission of a VA Enrollee by a VA staff or contracted physician; and (3) full hospitalist services. Emergency services include provision of all hospital technical services necessary to support clinical diagnosis and treatment, including but not limited to all necessary diagnostic testing, medical supplies (under Medicare standards) and medications used or administered to a VA Enrollee while being diagnosed and/or treated in the Hospital ™s Emergency Department. Contractor will also provide for ancillary diagnostic testing during the course of an emergency visit ordinarily provided by and reimbursed to hospitals under the Medicare program. Non-emergency acute care hospital services will include all technical hospital services necessary to support the clinical diagnosis and treatment of VA Enrollees who are referred for admission on an inpatient basis by a VA staff or contracted physician and which are ordinarily reimbursable to hospitals under the Medicare program standards. Full hospitalist services are the professional component of a patient ™s care as it relates to the primary care physician ™s inpatient care and treatment provided the inpatient during admission at the Contractor ™s Hospital and involvement in facility transfer or discharge planning. The coverage includes all customarily provided physician clinical and administrative service, inclusive of ordering any medically necessary diagnostic testing, medical supplies and medications, and the referral for any subspecialty or allied health care services deemed clinically appropriate for patient care and treatment as well as consistency with established VA Clinical Practice Guidelines. Full hospitalist services shall not include services and consultations provided by surgeons, other specialists and subspecialty physicians.
