- The US Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement for services to operate field located precipitation collection stations throughout the United States. The latitudes and longitudes of these locations can be found below. Any vendor who believes he can provide these services at any one of the following locations, has a valid DUNS number and is registered in CCR (www.ccr.gov) are invited to submit their capabilities statements to include business classification (small, hub zone, service disabled, large, etc.) to the CO at vfloyd@usgs.gov NLT 10/07/2010, 1pm EST. The following is a description of the service to be provided as well as the latitude and longitudes. Introduction: Operate a field located precipitation collection station, on a weekly basis, as part of the USGS National Trends Network (NTN). In the laboratory, perform the required measurements, complete the Reporting Form, package the sample, and ship it to the laboratory via FedEx 2nd Day Air, using USGS provided prepaid mailers. Work requirements: The stations consists of an automatic wet/dry precipitation collector, weighing and recording rain gage with anchor base, and an event recorder. A precipitation sample will be collected on a weekly basis (each Tuesday morning) according to the protocol described in the NTN Site Operation Manual. Criteria for acceptance: The entire NADP network contracts with the University of Illinois's Central Analytical Laboratory (CAL) to deal directly with providers and individual operators regarding site specifications and maintenance, their performance, site operations, checking of data contained in Reports Form, arranging for provision of needed replacement parts and where necessary, guidance and training. Place of Performance: The precipitation collectors are located in rural areas throughout the country. The sites are generally on public lands, and a few are on leased private land. Vendors must be able to gain access to these sites. Period of Performance: Date of Award through 12 months to include 4 option years.
