Description
The work consists of furnishing all labor, materials and equipment (Large Excavator w/thumb attachment) necessary to raze, dismantle and dispose of the building known as the Lee House located at Knightville Dam, Huntington, MA. The actual method of demolition of the structure will be at the contractors discretion. The exterior siding, trim boards, soffit and fascia boards have been tested have been determined to contain lead paint. The contractor will be required to remove all of the building demolition materials and construction debris from the site and dispose of them in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to disposal of lead contaminated construction/demolition debris. Contractor shall provide receipts for disposal of all building demolition materials and construction debris at a landfill or transfer station licensed to accept and dispose of lead contaminated demolition materials and construction debris. Disposal of all building demolition materials and construction debris shall be done in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to landfill construction materials. Currently there is neither electricity nor water utilities in the existing structure to impede demolition operations. The contractor may salvage specific features of the structure. The existing stone foundation will be protected from damage during removal of the structure and remain in place. A mid 19th century fire place/bread oven is located in the smaller section or west side of the building. This fire place/bread oven may be salvaged by the contractor if there is any interest otherwise the contractor will demolish and dispose of the fireplace (in the remaining cellar hole of the building foundation). Upon completion of all demolition work the contractor will fill in the remaining cellar hole with clean fill (random bank run gravel, silt, sand etc.) to approximately 4-6 below existing ground graded in the area. These materials will be compacted to prevent low areas after final seeding. Top soil/loam will then be applied at a finish grade equal to the top of the existing stone foundation and compacted over the entire excavation site with hay mulch placed over the seeded area. All work will be subject to the approval of the Knightville Dam Project Manager.. The estimated cost of this procurement is between $25,000 and $100,000. This solicitation will be available on or about 20 October 2010 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov) which links to the FedTeds website (see below). Prospective contractors are required to self register their firm on the Internet to receive this solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the internet at https://www.fedteds.gov. Amendments, if any, will be available at this Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is 100% set aside for small businesses. The applicable NAICS code is 562910 with a Small Business Size Standard of $14,000,000. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the New England District.
