- Award Number: VA512-C10056 Notice Type: Sole Source Award The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5), Contracting Division, in accordance with FAR 6.302-2 and in accordance with (IAW) statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(2) "Circumstances Permitting Other than full and Open Competition" intends to award on a sole source basis to the Biomedical Waste Services, Inc., for radioactive hazardous waste removal services. Under the authority of Title 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(2) and FAR 6.302-2 "Unusual and Compelling Urgency" other than full and open competition is justified when the source demonstrates a unique capability to provide the particular services proposed. Services provided include: 1.The removal and disposal of radioactive and radioactive and mixed hazardous waste services at the Baltimore Medical Centers. The undersigned proposes to procure these services in a direct effort to maintain compliance at the VAMHCS as defined by COMAR 26.13.01.03 and in accordance with COMAR 26.13.03. This purchase order will be an interim contract leading to a contract with Base plus four (4) Option Years currently being processed for solicitation, selection and award by January 1, 2011. Biomedical Waste Service, Inc. is acknowledged for its experience with the Baltimore Medical Center and waste streams and has been used at the Baltimore location for the past several years consecutively with the necessary security clearance and licenses. The total cost is estimated at $25,000.00. NAICS 562112, size standard $12.5 Million applies. Period of performance shall be from October 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. This notice of intent to award is not a request for competitive proposals. It is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available.
