- Description
- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic, AdvancedTechnology Branch (Code 54140) is conducting market research to identify Fast Capture Fingerprint Devices in their support to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES) for support of the Fingerprint Fast Capture Evaluation. Mobile fingerprint scanning is desired by law enforcement officials and the military since fingerprints scanned with mobile technology can be identified on-site or communicated wirelessly to a much larger database for identification. Information sought pertains to fingerprint devices classified as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) as well as devices in current development. The goals of the Fast Capture Initiative are to identify new tools that are capable of capturing the same images as ten rolled fingerprints in less than 15 seconds and both palm prints in less than one minute. The information collected for the market research study will be shared with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). See attached files for additional information and instructions on how to respond to this RFI. No information from contractors will be accepted after the due date of 15 October 2010.
