Description
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE only. Responses to this notice will be used for information and planning purposes. No proposals are being requested or accepted with this notice. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS NOTICE. This notice shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Responses to this sources sought is not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. VA Medical Center Syracuse is seeking sources to provide a Medical Physicist or Medical Health Physicist who is certified by the American Board of Health Physicists (ABHP) or the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The physicist will be needed approximately 5-10 hours per month and be available for unlimited telephone calls 24 hours per day. The specific functions of this individual will be to provide regulatory support, provide necessary annual training as required by regulation, attend quarterly radiation safety committee meetings and provide advisory support for technologists and radiologists as requested. The person shall also provide shielding designs as necessary, and acceptance testing of new equipment. The person shall provide insight and advisement for research laboratories using radioactive material and provide support to include amendments and renewals of VA National Health Physics Program (VA NHPP) permit. The Contractor shall perform sealed source leak testing and inventory evaluations as prescribed by the VA NHPP permit, along with departmental program record reviews and procedure manual review. The Physicist must provide quarterly linearity checks and annual calibration of the Nuclear Medicine dose calibrator, well counter calibration, and ventilation checks of rooms and hoods. Contractor should assist, when called upon, in the setup and cleanup for major Iodine-131 therapies. The individual shall calculate patient radiation dose estimates in accordance with standards and review therapies to ensure NRC compliance. Offerors response shall be limited to 5 pages and shall include the Offeror ™s Company Name, DUNS number, address, point of contact, title, phone number and email address. Offeror shall also identify their type of business (Small or large) and socioeconomic status whether Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Veteran Owned, Hubzone, 8(a), Woman owned, Small Disadvantaged, etc. The NAICs code for this is 541690, Other Scientific and Technical Consulting Services (size standard of $7.0 million). Responses are to be sent electronically to Stephanie.French@va.gov or mailed to Stephanie French (2-90NC), 1304 Buckley Rd, Suite 101, Syracuse, NY 13212. Facsimile responses will not be accepted. After review of the responses to this sources sought notice, a solicitation announcement may be published on the FBO website. Responses to this sources sought notice are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested parties will have to respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this sources sought notice. Interested parties are reminded to register with Central Contractor Registration (CCR) at http://www.ccr.gov in order to be eligible for award of Government contracts. Responses must be received by 11/15/2010.
