- Responsible Sources Sought for Electrical Discharge Machine This notice is not a solicitation. This announcement serves as a source sought notice for the upcoming acquisition for United States Air Force Academy, for the following: Electrical Discharge Machine. Interested firms must reference their 8(a), HUBZone, Woman Owned or Service Disabled Veteran-Owned status and must be signed by a company official with authority to bind the company. All potential offerors are reminded, in accordance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS) 252.204-7004, Required Central Contractor Registration, lack of registration in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) will make an offeror ineligible for contract award. This Sources Sought Notice is also issued for the purpose of market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. All businesses capable of providing this equipment are invited to respond. Any information provided by industry to the Government as a result of this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information submitted in response to this sources sought synopsis. The 10 CONS/LGCB is seeking potential sources who can manufacture/distribute the Electrical Discharge Machine. The applicable NAICS Code is 333512 and the small business size is 500. The required delivery date would be as soon as possible after receipt of order. We anticipate the proposed contract will be a firm fixed priced commercial contract. Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM): Estimated Quantities 1 GF AgieChamilles Form 20 Die Sink An "or equal" product must conform to the following salient characteristics: - Weigh 4500 lbs or less (to enable transport in Fairchild Hall freight elevator) - Not exceed dimensions of 52"(w) x 73"(d) x 100"(h) (for main unit) - Have x,y,z travel exceeding 13"x9"x9" - Have part capacity exceeding 29"xl7"x10" - Have tank dimensions of at least 36" x 20" x 13" - Accept a part weighing 440 lbs - Accommodate an electrode weighing 110 lbs - Have CNC control of 4 machining axes (x, y, z, c) wl 0.6 pm resolution or better - Be capable of c-axis control at 0-50 rpm - Include a tool changer with 4-tool capacity - Have best surface finish of copper-steel of Ra 0.2 pin or better - Accommodate several orbital movement modes: vector, circular, vect2/3D, etc - Have facilitated data input for users (equiv to AEP Auto Erosion Programming) - Include high speed rotating spindle for improved precision and flexibility - Have integrated heat exchangers for cabinet & tank and suitable air/water chiller - Have control unit separate from machine for flexible placement in shop - Include set of holders, clamps, mounts - Include fine drill capacity to O.lmm - Include starter kit with 0.12 and 0.271nm electrodes and workpiece probe All Contractors interested in supplying this requirement may indicate their interest in this proposed acquisition by sending an email to the points of contact listed below to include your name, contact information, company name, business size, your level of interest in this proposed acquisition, CAGE code, and answers to the following questions: 1. How long have you been in business? 2. What size business is your company? How many employees do you have? 3. How big is your facility? 4. Have you manufactured or distributed an Electrical Discharge Machine? 5. What are your payment terms? 6. What is your business arrangement in the commercial industry? 7. Are you a manufacturer, or do you subcontract the work? 8. Have you ever performed government contracts? 9. What is your lead-time for manufacturing? What is the lead time for material? Is the material on hand or supplied Just-In-Time? What are the longest lead times for material? 10. Are you in compliance with the Buy American Act? 11. What are your commercial terms and conditions? 12. Are you incompliance with (Green Procurement) the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (42.U.S.C. 6962) and Executive order 13101 of September 14, 1998, Greening the Government through waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition? Would this product use recycled goods. Do you have similar products that are in compliance with Green Procurement? Only responsible suppliers need respond. NOTE: ** No telephone responses, please** This sources sought is for planning purposes only and does not commit the government to pay for the information requested. If you are not interested in supplying these items, no response is necessary. The Government is considering is trying to determine domestic or qualifying country availability of the Electrical Discharge Machine product described herein; specifically, we are seeking sources that manufacture in the United States, if there are in fact sources. This notice is designed to locate responsible sources who have an interest, and have the ability to supply the items described herein.
