- Description
- This file contains the RFI text and 2 photos. The World War II Memorial Registry Kiosks The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is responsible for four kiosks at the World War II Memorial visitor center in Washington D.C. These kiosks are located on the eastern face of the visitor center and are exposed to the morning sun. The kiosks provide the visitor access to the registry that was established by ABMC as a part of the memorial. The exposure of the kiosks causes operational problems. The glare from the bright light makes it difficult to read the screens and the heat from the sun often causes the exposed portion of the screen to turn black. ABMC is seeking to resolve these problems at the kiosks and is seeking information from industry on what technical solutions may be available. The current kiosks are installed in a secure enclosure and consist of a 17” infrared touch screen on a 17” Hi-Bright LCD monitor. The screen is controlled by a Dell Vostro workstation, which has network access. The workstation’s operating system is Microsoft Windows 7 running a kiosk application security wrapper and Microsoft SQL server. The solution that ABMC seeks would assume that the Eastern orientation of the kiosks would remain, and that the kiosks remain 508 compliant. A color display and a touch screen are also desirable. The solution would also require relatively low amounts of maintenance, be capable of continuous operations, be robust and have low failure rates. The Internet version of the World War II registry can be found at http://www.wwiimemorial.com/default.asp?page=registry.asp&subpage=search Interested parties are requested to provide not more than 5 pages of narrative that describes your general solution to our problem and not more than 2 pages of narrative of references you have where you have solved a similar problem. References should include a point of contact (POC) and a phone number for each POC. Please contact Mr. Tom Sole at 703-696-6899 or via email at solet@abmc.gov. Responses are due on or before December 20, 2010 to Mr. Sole at the email address previously listed.
