The system can be a commercially available item or an item in development. The sight shall provide a high angle firing solution for ranges between 30-100 meters to engage targets that fall between the maximum throwing distance of the hand grenade, and the minimum range of supporting mortar fire. The ability to engage targets above and below the grenadier is desired. It shall provide an aiming solution for ranges between 100 and 400 meters. It shall be compatible with all current M203 (40mm) ammunition. It shall provide improved probability of hit performance over the AN/PSQ-18. The day night sight shall provide the operator with a method of determining range to target accurately. It shall provide an aiming solution in low-light, day and night modes for both indirect and direct fire engagements. It shall weigh no more than 17.7 ounces and be no larger than 160 cubic inches (8"x4"x5"). It shall be a low profile design that does not interfere with the weapon sling attachment and shall attach to the MIL-STD-1913 rail, NATO rail when used with the M203 (mounted to the M16A4. M4/M4A1) and if possible, the M32A1 Multi-shot grenade launcher. It shall not impede mounting and use of the AN/PVQ-31A/B Rifle Combat Optic or AN/PEQ-15 or similar ancillary fire control devices. It shall be mounted close to the weapons centerline. It shall use batteries commonly available in the supply system. All laser energy output must be eye safe as selected by the operator or inherently by design. It must have a degraded mode of day/night operation for backup sighting when power is unavailable. It must meet US military extreme environmental (MIL-STD-810) and operational safety requirements. All interested and potential firms must be registered in CCR (http://www.ccr.gov), and current firms must update once a year to maintain active status. Firms/companies are invited to indicate their interests and capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, information pertaining to experience on previous projects, specific work previously performed or being performed, any in-house research and development effort, and any other specific and pertinent information as pertains to this particular area of procurement that would enhance our consideration and evaluation of the information submitted.
