- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is requesting information and conducting market research regarding the availability of systems and capabilities related to TSA's Check Point Targeted Detection System (CPTDS) program. The preliminary goal for the CPTDS program is acquisition of a system capable of detecting threat objects that might be concealed in casts, headwear or prosthetic devices without requiring passengers to (1) remove their casts, headwear or prosthetic devices for further inspection or (2) be placed in contorted, dangerous or uncomfortable positions. The threat objects include a wide variety of military, commercial, and homemade explosives or explosives devices, as well as weapons or parts of weapons. TSA invites voluntary participation to provide information on capabilities of detection technologies to determine the viability of current industry solutions for the secure processing of passengers with casts, headwear and prosthetic devices. The response to this RFI should include the following as a minimum: Vendor Information: 1. Company Name/Division 2. Point of Contact (POC) - a. Name b. Phone number 3. TSA requests non-sensitive information to be provided, if sensitive information is provided, it must be marked accordingly Product Information: 4. Model name 5. A description of the level of maturity of the detection technology in the system 6. A description and supporting documentation of any company-conducted or sponsored test results that summarizes the testing process and assessments of detection rate, false alarm rates, throughput rate, and threat identification libraries if applicable 7. A brief description of availability of basic system operating manuals and procedures in addition to a brief technical explanation of system operation 8. All deployed systems and their current locations 9. Commercial and catalog pricing data Attachments (e.g., test reports, product brochures) may be submitted and will not be included in the page limit. Unsolicited proposals submitted in response to this RFI will not be considered nor reviewed. As part of market research TSA may request a presentation or demonstration at TSA HQ. Based upon the response submitted, TSA may also request the respondent to host a site visit, to observe manufacturing processes and observe system in operation at no cost to the United States Government. TSA requests that all responses shall be prepared using 12 pt font, 1 inch margins, and 8.5" by 11" paper and not exceed 10 pages in length, including all images, data displays, charts, graphs, and tables. This notice does not constitute a pre-solicitation notice nor will any contract award result from your response. This Request for Information (RFI) does not represent an official Request for Quote or Proposal, nor does it commit the United States Government to any course of action in the future. This RFI is issued solely for market research, planning, and information purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by TSA to enter into a contractual agreement, nor will TSA pay for information hereunder. Each respondent, by submitting a response, agrees that any cost incurred by it in responding to this request or in support of activities associated with this RFI shall be the sole responsibility of respondent.
