- The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the Engineering Design, Fabrication, and Construction Services for a Space Frame System for the elevated Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-directional Range (DVOR) Facility at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses and specifications. Work under this project consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1.) Fabricate, deliver and install a flat 150' diameter, hot-dipped galvanized steel Space Frame System onto a Government-Furnished Foundation/Support and Core Building. Attachments to the central building shaft and support column locations shall also be required as specified.2.) The Space Frame System shall include expanding metal and walkway grating, handrails, hatches, ladders, embedments and all necessary appurtenances.3.) The Space Frame System will be designed to rest on four moment based concrete columns and a single concrete tower which will be provided by the Government. The space frame supports a flat surface of expanded metal at a height of approximately 50' above ground. This surface is used as a reflecting surface for navigational antennas. Parts of the structure will be covered with walkable grating to provide a surface to access equipment and easily move about the structure.4.) The Space Frame System shall be designed to support antennas which are provided and installed by the Government after placement of the Space Frame System.5.) Provide technical services to assemble and install the Space Frame. Provide all labor, technical skills, materials, equipment and machinery necessary to assemble and install the Space Frame on a Government-Furnished Foundation/Support. Services include unpacking and inspection at the job site, organizing/arranging for assembly, replacing all damages or defective parts, assembling as required to facilitate installation atop the foundation/support and provide technical assistance in final inspection and acceptance of the Space Frame System.6.) Miscellaneous structural work tasks. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the contract specifications. Contract performance time is 70 calendar days for design and fabrication and 42 calendar days for installation, with an anticipated start in Spring 2011. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. NAICS is 238120. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK.
