Description
Combined Synopsis/Solicitation No. Q1574111012Amendment 0001January 3, 2011 Project Title: Kitchen Remodel, Yellowstone National Park. Receipt of Offers: The hour and date for receipt of offers remains unchanged at 2:00 pm local time on January 6, 2011. Description of Changes: This amendment provides information in response to the following written requests provided by interested individuals:1. Comment was "Solicitation says that the countertop shall be manufactured solid acrylic surface, with rolled front edge and a rolled one piece back splash. Similar or equal to (Cambria Brand); Color: (Oakhampton) or similar. Cambria does not make Solid acrylic surface. They only make Quartz countertops. Do you want Quartz countertops or Solid Acrylic Surface?"Response - "We want Quartz countertops." 2. Comment was "If you want Quartz countertops, because of the extreme weight, I do not see how it would ever be removable in the 51" area you want to be removable. Do you want Quartz countertops or Solid Acrylic Surface? How high do you want the backsplash to be?"Response - "We want Quartz countertops. The backsplash should be standard height (3-1/2" - 4") on all countertops except the two 51" sections. The low 51" fixed countertop and the 51" removable countertop, these do not have back splashes."3. Comment was "Do you or the contractor provide the sinks?"Response - "The contractor shall provide and install the kitchen sink and the vanity sink. National Park Service will install the faucets and all other plumbing."4. Comment was "Is the cabinet contractor responsible for the plumbing connections?"Response - "National Park Service will make all plumbing connections."5. Comment was "Is the bathroom vanity 30" or 34.5" high?"Response - "Standard 30" tall vanity."6. Comment was "Is the Contractor responsible for appliances install?"Response - "Contractor is responsible for installation of all cabinets (upper and lower kitchen and pantry cabinets, installation of the bathroom vanity cabinet, installation of all countertops and the installation of the kitchen sink and vanity sink and cabinets door pulls and handles). National Park Service will install the appliances (stove, microwave, refrigerator, etc.) after the cabinets are installed."7. Comment was "In the pantry cabinet corner, do you want a lazy Susan in the base corner and a diagonal wall corner or do you want to use the blind corner in the base and wall cabinets?"Response - "We want a blind corner base and wall cabinets."8. Comment was "Do the cabinets get crown molding?"Response - "No the cabinets do not get crown molding."9. Comment was "What is the ceiling height or the soffit height if there is a soffit?"Response - "There are soffits above the kitchen and pantry cabinets, and the bottom of the soffits are 95" - 96" above the finished floors."10. Comment was "The back splash for the counter top, it calls out "a rolled one piece back splash". I just wanted to clarify if you were asking for an attached back splash (waterfall type) or a one piece rolled top edge detached back splash. We do the attached waterfall style, but in solid surface the detached style is much more common."Response - "As long as the edges are rounded, we are just asking for what is common in the industry and leave it up to the contractor to propose what they are going to provide and install."11. Comment was "The corner upper in the kitchen is called out as a 36"x36"x42". We can build it this way, more typically, we would build three boxes, 12"-24"-12"x42". What I mean is a 24" corner cabinet with a 12" on either side, resulting in the same 36"x36"x42" measurement."Response - "We want the maximum storage possible and easy accessibility to stored items. A 24" cabinet with an angled front opening and two 12" cabinets on both sides would work, however we request that each contractor propose what they are going to provide for evaluation."12. Comment was "In the bathroom there is a "free standing linen cabinet" shown, but not mentioned in the details. Is this cabinet part of the bid?"Response - "No, the linen closet is not part of the requirement, only the vanity."13. Comment was "The sinks are called out as stainless and white porcelain. In the notes quality is mentioned as a key factor, as such I would just mention the benefits of using integrated sinks. They are one of the real assets to solid surface. No joint, no caulk, no chance of a leak. It's worth mentioning anyway."Response - "The National Park Service appreciates your suggestion, but for now we are requesting a stainless kitchen sink with one large bowl and one small bowl, and a white porcelain vanity sink. Possibly you could submit multiple offers for our consideration."14. Comment was "Are there cabinets to remove and haul off, or are we just bidding the install?"Response - "No, the old cabinets have already been removed and disposed of. We are looking for proposals for the new cabinets, countertops and hardware installed." All other terms remain in full force and effect. Offers must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the hour and date specified in the solicitation or as amended by one of the following methods:a)Signing and dating this amendment and returning with offer;b)By acknowledging receipt of this amendment on each copy of the offer submitted; orc)By separate letter or telegram which includes a reference to the solicitation and amendment numbers.FAILURE OF YOUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO BE RECEIVED AT THE PLACE DESIGNATED FOR THE RECEIPT OFFERS PRIOR TO THE HOUR AND DATE SPECIFIED MAY RESULT IN REJECTION OF YOUR OFFER.If by virtue of the amendment you desire to change an offer already submitted, such change may be made by telegram or letter, provided each telegram or letter makes reference to the solicitation and this amendment, and is received prior to the opening hour and date specified.
