- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with three Standard Development Organizations (SDO): American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO); Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE); and Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The SDOs will perform activities designed to support the Research and Innovative Technology Administration's Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO). Where they must meet current and future requirements in the development of new ITS standards, the maintenance of currently published and actively used ITS standards and the testing of selected ITS standards before and after publication. The USDOT ITS Standards Program current primary focus is on standards "around the vehicle platform," that is, any standards needed to provide connectivity between vehicles (V2V) and between vehicles and infrastructure (V2I) and other standards required to fully support the successful deployment of ITS-JPO research program technologies. The USDOT ITS Standards Program will continue appropriate support for the Center-to-Center and Center-to-Field infrastructure standards. The USDOT is pursuing further research in the creation of new standards, and modification of existing standards, for interoperability. A Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) contract is anticipated. Interested parties should submit a description of their capabilities for satisfying this requirement, which demonstrates they possess the ability to successfully perform this effort. The responses must be received by COB January 27, 2011. All questions concerning this matter should be addressed directly to Ms. Carolyn Wilson at Carolyn.wilson@dot.gov.
