Description

Replace Air Handling Unit #4, Project 534-09-109. Provide labor and material to replace air handling unit #4, return fan #4, and auxiliary equipment identified in drawings and specifications developed for the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. Phase I work shall include the installation of a temporary cooling system prior to demolition of existing AHU #4 and return fan #4. Temporarily remove sprinkler heads and piping identified to allow construction without inadvertent activation of the sprinkler system. Temporarily remove duct smoke detectors for ductwork demolition. Demolition of the existing AHU #4 and return fan #4 shall begin after the temporary cooling system is installed and operational. Demolition AHU #4, return fan #4, ductwork, electrical equipment, chill water pipe, steam pipe, condensate pipe, pneumatic/electric/electronic controls, and all other auxiliary equipment. Reroute steam, condensate, and chill water piping and other equipment associated with AHU #3 and AHU #9 to provide space for the installation of new AHU #4 and return fan #4. After steam, condensate, and chill water piping and other equipment has been rerouted and reconnected, begin the installation phase for AHU #4 and return fan #4. After suspending new AHU #4 and return fan #4, install all mechanical, electrical, controls, fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, seismic bracing, and any other equipment required in the drawings and specifications. Remove the temporary cooling system and connect the new AHU #4 system to ductwork serving the Medical Center. Perform all programming, testing, and balancing required by the drawings and specifications. Completion of all work shall be within 6 months from the notice to proceed. The estimated construction cost is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Consideration is limited to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, and the solicitation will be issued as a Sealed Bid. The bids shall be hand delivered to the Main Auditorium, Room A139 on the first floor at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401-5799. All bids must be received by 10:00 AM Eastern time the day of the bid opening or anytime before the day of the bid opening. If bids are not received by 10:00 AM Eastern time the day of the bid opening, they will be considered late. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 238220 and the Small Business Size Standard is $14 M. The solicitation will be issued on the Federal Business Opportunities Website on January 14, 2011 with proposals due on February 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM EST. This project was previously announced under solicitation number VA-247-11-RP-0034. The new solicitation number is VA-247-11-IB-0037.
