Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil/. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD). NSWCCD Philadelphia is currently looking for sources that can design, furnish and test a Magazine Fire Detection/Actuation System (MFD/AS) for use aboard U.S. Navy ships. The MFD/AS is comprised of individually-addressable electronic, restorable, fixed temperature, spot-type heat detectors (includes isolator bases); spot-type photoelectric smoke detectors (includes isolator bases); spot-type ionization smoke detectors (includes isolator bases); input/output devices; a Fire Alarm Control Unit (FACU); and a Repeater Alarm Panel. Collectively, these components shall form a system for use in detecting magazine fire conditions and actuating a shipboard magazine fire suppression system. Multiple FACUs on a ship, including their associated detectors and devices, shall have the capability of being networked together and connected to one or more Repeater Alarm Panels, which shall monitor and display the various alarm and trouble/fault indications that occur on the independent FACUs. The system shall operate with either grounded or ungrounded 120 VAC, single-phase, 60 Hz power and have the capability to operate output relays that shall activate fire suppression systems. The FACU and Repeater Alarm panels shall contain internal back-up rechargeable sealed lead acid batteries capable of full system operation in the event of loss of primary 120 VAC power. MFD/AS and its components shall be listed or approved in accordance with UL or EN. Additionally, all components shall meet the vibration requirements of MIL-STD-167-1, the lightweight, Grade A, Class I, Type A shock test requirements of MIL-S-901, and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) requirements of MIL-STD-461. In addition, heat detector response times for Navy specified fire tests shall be required to be reported.
