- PURPOSE: The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to conduct market research which will be used to formulate an acquisition strategy to support service and maintenance for the Marine Corps Institute ™s (MCI), Ascent Mail Processing System. The USMC Regional Contracting Office, National Capital Region, is seeking responses from contractors and under NAICS code 811212 that will be capable of providing windows based system support software for Ascent Mail Processing System operation and on-site software and hardware support at MCI ™s Logistics Warehouse. MCI facilitates training and education for Marines through development and distribution of distance learning course materials that enhance combat effectiveness of the war-fighter, expand MOS proficiency, and further enlisted Professional Military Education for Marines worldwide. MCI ™s Logistics Warehouse mission is to provide warehousing and shipping operations for MCI course distribution, to maintain a database tracking system for distance learning course inventory and to automatically generate package and mailing labels for course distribution. The Ascent Mail Processing System located in the MCI Logistics Warehouse at the Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC, which is designed to support the MCI Logistics Warehouse mission. The Mail Processing System is an automated system consisting of a configuration of hardware systems that includes the Ascent Processing System, Conveyors, light-directed Pick-To-Light Systems, Shrink Tunnels, DI950 Inserting System, Logistic Control/Tracking System and USPS automation module. The mail processing system is also integrated with existing Navy/Marine Corps NMCI network system. Responses to this RFI shall not exceed ten (10) pages, including the cover letter. Subject response shall contain the following information: a) Daily on-site service and maintenance that includes preventative and corrective maintenance for all software and hardware systems Monday through Friday; (b) Windows based software for system automation; (c) Envelopes for DI950 Inserting System; (e) Postal meter lock box; (f) A monthly report of Mail Processing System operational status; and (g) Ability to advise Warehouse Marines on operation of all mail processing systems.
