Description
STATEMENT OF WORK WASTE REMOVAL 1. General: Contractor shall provide containers for and complete removal of cardboard and comingled recycling materials at the VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare Facility. Container(s) for cardboard recycling and comingled recycling will be located at Leavenworth and a roll off container for bale storage and comingled container(s) at Topeka. No hazardous waste removal will be required. In addition up to 10 event boxes at each campus will be provided for use. Containers will have lids. 1.1 All container dumps/exchanges at both the Leavenworth and the Topeka sites shall be accomplished during regular working hours, i.e., 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding Federal Holidays. 1.2 The pick-up schedule will be closely adhered to prevent inconsistent and unnecessary call-ins. Additional charges will not be imposed for call-ins resulting from inconsistent dumping which are not in accordance with contract requirements. 1.3 The contractor shall assume full responsibility for compliance with all Federal, State, City and County laws, rules and regulations governing removal of waste materials. 1.4 Containers listed for (patient care buildings) shall be cleaned and sanitized once per week with VA approved germicide. (See schedule). All other containers shall be cleaned and sanitized biweekly (unless otherwise noted) with a VA approved germicide. The containers shall be kept neat in appearance, repaired and painted when warranted (i.e. appearance of rust spots, stains, excessively chipped areas, etc.) 1.5 Extra pickups due to excess trash generated at the facility will be charged at regular pick price set by the contract. 1.6 The contractor shall furnish the necessary metal containers of approximate size and configuration. The containers shall be of such a design that the material can be dumped into them with the containers on or off docks. These containers shall have a maximum door size of 30"X30", a minimum door size of 20"x20", with a maximum height of 32" form the bottom of the door above the floor of the dock. The COTR or designee will indicate the specific location in each area. The VA reserves the right to relocate the containers when deemed necessary. 1.7 Container dumps will be spot checked and verified by the COTR or his/her designee. 1.8 Residual trash resulting from container dumps shall be removed by the contractor and the area "broom cleaned". 1.9 All containers shall be clean and sanitary when placed in service. 2. Trash Pick-Up Schedule (Sample schedule below) BLDG. 21 Topeka a.Furnish one (1) 8 cubic yard container comingled recycled container. b.Remove trash 2 times monthly days to be determined. Fenced area in Topeka where roll off will be kept a.Furnish one (1) 40 cubic yard roll off container. Container shall be configured in such a manner that will permit VA personnel to load cardboard bales. b.Remove trash 2 times monthly days to be determined. c.Clean and sanitize 1 time/week. WATER TOWER AREA at Leavenworth a.Furnish two (2) 8 cubic yard cardboard containers and one (1) comingled container. b.Remove cardboard 2 times/month and comingled 2 times/month days to be determined.
