Description
The USGS Alaska Science Center, Anchorage, Alaska requires a chartering seaworthy vessel for a minimum of ten (10) days and a maximum of twenty five (25) days and to accommodate ten (10) scientists, between the dates of May 15 and June 20, 2011. The area of operation will be Western Southeast Alaska and the cruise will originate and end in Juneau, Alaska. Project objectives include: 1. Capturing sea otters in the vicinity of Cross Sound and southwestern Baranof Island for the collection of blood and other body condition parameters so comparisons can be made among study sites. 2. Collecting sea otter foraging observations using high-powered spotting scopes to characterize sea diets. 3. Collecting black rockfish and kelp greenling for otolith and tissue samples. Vessel shall be fully licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and proof of certification shall be provided with the bid offer. Name, proof of either a Canadian Coast Guard or U.S. Coast Guard license, and a description of the watercraft experience of the Captain. Captain shall have at least three (3) years of experience operating watercraft of the size being offer in the following specific region of Southeast Alaska: Cross Sound and Southwestern Baranof Island. A fixed price type purchase order is contemplated for this requirement. Competitive procedures in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, will be utilized. Award will be made to the offeror whose offer meets the requirements of the solicitatoin, price and other factors considered. It is anticipated that a Request for Quote (RFQ) will be issued and posted to this site on or about January 21, 2011 with quotations due on or about February 11, 2011. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered. This acquisition is set-aside for 100% small business participation. The associated NAICS code is 483114 - Coastal and Great Lakes Freight Transportation, with an associated size standard of 500. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-47, effective 12 January 2011.
