- It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), to negotiate on a sole source with The Karolinska Institute Library, Nobel VAGE 5, Stockholm 171 77 under the authority of 13.106-1(b) only one source reasonable available to procure the services and expertise of The Karolinska Institute Library to provide a continuing stream of indexed Swedish articles from biomedical journals for inclusion in MEDLINE/PubMed. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 611310, College, Universities, and Professional Schools. The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is responsible for indexing life science journals for MEDLINE/PubMed. Indexing policies & procedures used at NLM are in the NLM Indexing Manual, supplemented by technical memoranda, email, online resources, and other indexing aids. Library Operations (LO), Bibliographic Services Division (BSD) has identified The Karolinska Institute Library as having the requisite experience, knowledge and skills to perform this work. The staff of the Karolinska Institute Library, since 1980s, has been indexing certain journals published in Sweden. Use of this source would eliminate the need to train new indexers. They have prompt access to journals published in the Sweden. Indexing will be performed online using NLM's web-based indexing system. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide the products and services required by NLM. The offeror shall include all information necessary to document and/or supports the qualification criteria in one clearly marked section of its quotation. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. Inquiries regarding this procurement may be made to the National Library of Medicine, Office of Acquisitions, 6707 Democracy Boulevard, Suite 105, MSC 5488, Bethesda, Maryland 20892, Attention: Suet Vu, Contract Specialist, on (301) 496-6546. RESPONSES ARE DUE BY 12:00 PM LOCAL PREVAILING TIME ON February 08, 2010, AND SHALL BE SENT VIA E-MAIL TO: vus@mail.nih.gov. Vendor shall comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws, executive orders, rules and regulations applicable to its performance under this order.
