- TITLE: Procure and Deliver 42 nonhuman primates (NHPs) for DHAP Laboratory Branch's Antiretroviral Safety and Efficacy Studies I. BACKGROUND The Laboratory Branch supports DHAP's goals in HIV prevention as they pertain to clinical studies, viral transmission, diagnosis and incidence, intervention research with microbicides, vaccines, and chemoprophylaxis as well as investigates other human and zoonotic retroviruses. The lab conducts and develops multiple preclinical HIV intervention studies using animal models (mainly NHPs) for HIV detection, quantitation, isolation, evolution, and surveillance including drug resistance. II. PURPOSE To procure and deliver 42 nonhuman primates for antiretroviral safety and efficacy studies to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), OID, NCHHSTP, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Laboratory Branch. III. SCOPE OF WORK The contractor will provide all necessary trained personnel, transport cages, equipment, and materials to procure and deliver 42 Nonhuman primates three years or older cycling female Macaca nemestrina (pig-tailed macaques), tested negative for tuberculosis (3 consecutive TB skin tests), tested negative to antibodies of simian retroviruses (SRV), simian T-lymphotropic viruses (STLV), and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) in appropriate crates to the United States Port of Entry (i.e., San Francisco if purchased outside the United States) or to CDC Atlanta, GA if purchased in the United States. IV. TASKS TO BE PERFORMED a. The contractor will send all test results and animal records from birth to present to the Project Officer for review and approval. Results and Records should include the following: 1. Country, place and date of origin 2. Animal ID number 3. Date of birth 4. Sex (should be females) 5. Most recent weights with dates obtained 6. Dates and result of all TB tests 7. Dates, results, and external laboratory that performed testing for SIV, SRV, STLV, and measles 8. Copies of all clinical records for each animal since birth including any noted behavioral evaluations b. Animals previously exposed to SIV or HIV antigens will not be accepted. c. The contractor will transport safely and humanely Forty Two (42) NHPs from point of origin to Port of Entry (i.e., San Francisco, CA) or to CDC, Atlanta, GA. If purchased internationally, contractor must have valid CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) to bring nonhuman primates into the United States.PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE The contractor will start the process to ship and deliver the NHPs 5 days or as soon as possible after award. The contractor deliver 42 NHPs to the United States Port of Entry (i.e., San Francisco, CA) if purchase is from international source or to CDC, Atlanta GA if purchase is domestic source. All testing and animal records as indicated above. This advertisement ends in 14 days accordance with FAR 5.203 (A) (1).
