Description
Background: The US Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) is part of the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), located adjacent to Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, TX. It's primary objective is to advance combat casualty care. Essential to that objective is laboratory biomedical research. The USAISR is dedicated to both laboratory and clinical trauma research. Its mission is to provide requirements driven combat casualty care medical solutions and products for injured soldiers from self-aid through definitive care across the full spectrum of military operations; provide state-of-the-art trauma, burn, and critical care to Department of Defense beneficiaries around the world and civilians in our trauma region; and provide Burn Special Medical Augmentation Response Teams. USAISR wishes to contract with a vendor who has an established program of providing undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for research support in a work program in a research environment. Vendor will provide research support at the laboratory level, the full range of research services (e.g. experiments and data collection thereof, experimental design, data interpretation, meeting attendance, research presentations, reports, laboratory maintenance, animal handling, ordering supplies); or management of a complete research project characterized by its breadth, complexity, scope of coverage and independent execution by the incumbents. The soliciation is expected to be ready for release on or about March 1, 2011. Please email your request for the solicitation to Ms. Donna Blackstone at donna.blackstone@amedd.army.mil.
