Description
*** 23 February 2011 *** Additional questions and responses: QUESTION: 3.16 I see that a question was answered as to providing impedance match resistors. Do I understand this to mean that we do not need to include signal conditioning beyond that for IEPE sensors? Also, is the VSCS only responsible for taking a voltage input and providing a voltage sensitivity for Charge or voltage-mode sensors? RESPONSE: No, as 3.16 states the vendor's VSCS must have signal conditioning as required for charge mode (high impedance), low impedance voltage (IEPE), voltage mode accelerometers, and velocity pickups. The charge mode shall determine accelerometers charge sensitivity (pC/g). QUESTION: 3.8 Will reference sensors of velocity and displacement be used? Or, will the reference standard be an accelerometer? RESPONSE: The reference standard will be an accelerometer. QUESTION: 6.5 Is it sufficient to provide the VSCS uncertainties only? RESPONSE: No, the uncertainty shall be presented as in par 6.0 through 6.5 We have another concern that has come up. We've been exploring laptop options and cannot find a laptop that meets the storage temperature range, screen size/resolution and number of USB ports. The only laptop we've found the following: 1. A Dell e6400 XFR meets temperature but not screen size (14") 2. A standard commercial laptop meeting all specs except storage temperature range (typically -40C to 60C) 3. A Getac rugged laptop meets storage temperature and screen size (only has 2 USB ports and is not a major manufacturer) 4. A desktop computer meeting all specifications (except laptop) RESPONSE: An exception to the 3.3 Storage Temperature Range is for the laptop which shall have a storage/shipping temperature range of a typical environment of a package shipped via commercial carrier. Also the laptop display panel can be as small as 14".
