Description
RFI - Aircraft Fuel Efficiency Industry Days Aircraft Fuel Efficiency Industry Days Headquarters, Air Mobility Command (AMC) Future Concepts and the Fuel Efficiency Office will host an "Aircraft Fuel Efficiency Industry Days," 27-29 June 2011, at Scott AFB, Illinois. For this conference, AMC is seeking industry/academia information on near-term-to-future material solutions that could contribute to greater fuel efficiency - specifically, advanced engines, advanced fuel types, and advanced aircraft designs/modifications for the current Mobility Air Forces (MAF) aircraft fleet, as well as future aircraft designs. As the Department of Defense's (DOD) largest fuel consumer, AMC is very interested in ways to operate more efficiently. Interested companies and academia that have experience, knowledge, and/or developmental efforts or concepts concerning aircraft fuel efficiency technologies (advanced engines, fuels, and/or aircraft structures), are invited to submit a brief, UNCLASSIFIED abstract (no more than 2 pages). The abstract should describe: 1) the company's or academia's material solution that would significantly increase the fuel efficiency of MAF transport/tanker aircraft, 2) how the material solution would be integrated into air mobility operations to achieve significant fuel efficiency, 3) timeline for operational implementation. HQ AMC Future Concepts and the Fuel Efficiency Office will select the most applicable abstracts and invite selected companies/academia (based upon the abstracts) to present an UNCLASSIFIED briefing to a government fuel efficiency focused audience. The audience is expected to include representatives from AMC, Air Staff, US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), other military commands, DOD agencies, and Services. Abstracts and presentations may focus on near-term (within 5 years), mid-term (within 10 years), and/or long-term (within 20 years) efforts/concepts. Abstracts shall be written using Microsoft Word; email to: AMCIndustrydays.org@scott.af.mil no later than (NLT) 11:59 pm CDT on 6 April 2011. Please do not include videos. HQ AMC will notify selected companies and academia NLT 6 May 2011 and request submission of an UNCLASSIFIED presentation. Presentation schedule/agenda will be provided shortly thereafter. Presentations shall be built in Microsoft PowerPoint. Each presenter will be allotted 45 minutes for presentation, questions/answers, discussion, and comments. Final presentations for those selected must be provided to the Future Concepts and Transformation Branch through email: AMCIndustrydays.org@scott.af.mil NLT 11:59 pm CDT on 9 June 2011 Information gained from "Aircraft Fuel Efficiency Industry Days" will be used to enhance continuous exchange of aircraft fuel efficiency problems, practices, and solutions among government organizations. Additionally, information gained may be used to inform senior leaders and become the basis for defining requirements. Questions/additional information can be sent to email: AMCIndustrydays.org@scott.af.mil Note: Information presented and obtained during "Aircraft Fuel Efficiency Industry Days" shall not be considered as a solicitation for competitive bid, nor will it obligate the government to any contractual action. The information requested herein will be used within the Air Force/DOD to facilitate decision making and will not be disclosed outside the agency. The Air Force/DOD will not discuss, accept, or evaluate any unsolicited proposal from any industry representative. Additionally, the appearance of any industry/academic representative is not intended as, and does not imply, any endorsement of, or preference for, the particular industry representative. Attendance is strictly voluntary and at contractor's and/or academic expense. The government will not reimburse any costs related to contractor/academic abstract/presentation submissions or attendance.
