- Description
- The Army Contracting Command-Picatinny on behalf of the BENET Laboratories, Watervliet Arsenal, Watervliet, NY is seeking firms capable of providing one or both of the descriptive information below: 1. A. Cladding - Potential sources shall be able to explosively bond/clad refractory metal alloys (particularly seamless Ta-10W as well as Stellite 25 and Biodur CCM) onto the inside of truncated and full-length medium and large-caliber gun barrels. The exact length and gun-tube ID as well as the material to be clad will vary; however, it is essential that potential sources have the ability to explosively clad Ta-10W onto the inside of a full-length 25mm barrel. Other materials such as Biodur CCM and Stellite 25 will be considered, therefore, potential sources must be able to successfully clad Stellite 25 onto the inside of a 25mm barrel. The cornerstone of the program will be explosively cladding Ta-10W on the inside of Steel D6AC and 4340 steel tubes of various lengths and various inner diameters. 2. B. Machining - The contractor/contractors shall be able to provide machining services for ARDECs Explosive Bonding program. Cladding of Ta-10W onto a full-length 25mm barrel is the cornerstone of the Explosive Bonding program, it is essential that potential sources be able to machine and rifle the Ta-10W material that has been explosively clad onto the full-length 25mm barrel. The Contractor/contractors shall have the manufacturing tools, techniques and processes to machine and hone the tantalum/tungsten liners on the bore of a 25 mm gun barrel. Potential sources shall machine and hone the 25mm barrel after cladding to Mann-barrel and then net-shape configuration (including fluting on the barrel). Firms/companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and other technical data. All data should be sent at no cost tothe US Government by April 29, 2011 to the US Army ARDEC. ATTN: Katelyn Warren email: Katelyn.a.warren@us.army.mil. In addition, please provide the firms name and address, point of contact with telephone number and email address, and size of business (small/large). The Government will accept written questions by email. This is a market survey to be used for informational planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP), nor is the Government obligated to issue an RFP. The US Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey.
