- The following amendment is issued to provide answers to industry questions. Q 1. Do we need to address the 'targeting' function of a deployment system? A 1. The human in the loop is responsible for targeting. The system will be point and shoot just like a shot gun or rifle. Q 2. Does our deployment system just need to get the launch canister to the point of engagement or does it also need to deploy/disperse the entanglement net? A 2. The system needs to deploy/disperse the entanglement device in the engagement configuration. The engagement configuration is the entanglement device floating in the water expanded to its full length. Q 3. If it is to disperse the net, when should it initiate? Before it hits the water? After submerging a specified depth? What is the desired CONOPS? A 3. The entanglement device needs to land in the fully deployed state. Q 4. Assuming the RFI results in an RFP: a. When will the RFP be issued? b. Estimated number of contracts? c. Estimated contract amount, program duration, and TRL entering/exiting contract? A 4. Not known at this time. Q 5. Will this solicitation be coordinated with other agencies, such as the Naval Surface Warfare Center or Naval Undersea Warfare Center, etc? A 5. Information obtained from this RFI may be shared with other DoD activities.
