Description
This is a Pre-Solicitation Notice. This is not a request for technical or cost proposals. No solicitation is available at this time and requests for solicitation packages will not receive a response. As part of its overall research mission, the National Eye Institute conducts clinical research on the cause, incidence, prevalence, prevention, and treatment of eye diseases and visual disorders. These studies conducted both extramurally and within the intramural clinical research program of the NEI, include population-based and clinic-based epidemiologic and natural history studies as well as clinical trials. The National Eye Institute has a requirement for extramural support for developing, designing, interpreting, and evaluating clinical trials, epidemiologic and natural history studies. In addition, it will provide support for outcomes research involving eye diseases and visual disorders and some preclinical studies. The focus shall be on the design of studies and the collection, analyses and interpretation of data emanating from these studies, as well as monitoring the actual recruitment and quality control, providing on site coordinating support, and monitoring patient follow-up. A five year, cost reimbursement type contract is anticipated with an award made on or about November 1, 2011. The solicitation will be issued on or about June 13, 2011 in an electronic format only, on this web site (https://www.fbo.gov). Offerors are responsible for routinely checking this web site for any amendments to the solicitation. No individual notification of amendments will be provided.
