- Description
- It is the intent of the Center for Information Technology (CIT), National Institutes of Health (NIH), to negotiate for Microsoft FY11 Premier Support Services. This notice is of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The acquisition of Microsoft Premier support services is necessary to ensure continued access to support for Microsoft software products that are currently in use across over 80,000 HHS computer desktop personal computers and laptops, as well as several hundred HHS servers. Through Microsoft Premier, customers have direct and unique access to various Microsoft product teams, software developers, and source code for current and future products enabling specialized insight into the architecture of current solutions that can facilitate smooth migrations to existing and future unreleased products/versions, quick and comprehensive resolution of product support, and trouble-shooting and hot-fix type issues. Customers also receive specialized training from Microsoft personnel from Microsoft development teams on how to best plan for, deploy, manage, and maximize productivity of Microsoft products. Specialized workshops and training sessions help customers prevent problems, increase system availability, and create products and solutions based on Microsoft technologies. Microsoft Premier support services also provides for problem resolution support for problems encountered while using Microsoft products that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and support account management, which enables escalation to other resources within Microsoft to expedite problem resolution. These key features allow customers to get the most out of their existing Microsoft investments, and end users, like the researchers and scientists, are afforded the most optimal product experience, enabling them to work with greater ease. CIT's mission is to provide, coordinate, and manage information technology and to advance computational science. CIT supports NIH's research and management programs with efficient, cost-effective information systems, networking services, and telecommunications services.
